Welcome to “Tân y Ddraig Goch”, or very loosely translated… “Welsh Dragon Fire”.

(Actually it’s Red Dragon Fire, but someone beat me to that web address in English.)

This is my personal website where I capture thoughts and experiences on my various culinary exploits, mostly outdoors involving fire, and almost always with some sort of techie or caveman gadget !

This is where I’ll dump musings of my culinary experiments. There are words, pictures, videos, guides and links representing the techniques and recipes I unearth from various sources, and the gadgets I acquire to further feed my habit. Like my cooking experiments, this site will hopefully evolve.

(Incidentally, if you’re here for the videos then they can all be found on one You Tube Channel now. Check them out !).

And here’s a taste of some of the more recent ones…

As this is about experimentation, certain dishes might go through various iterations and never get close to perfect, or even good….so try to be nice :-). I’ll try to be honest with the assessments and suggest how they might be improved.

And why the name Tân y Ddraig Goch ? I travel a lot, and as I write this am living in the USA.  My body, heart and soul are, and always will be, from a small country in the UK called Wales – I am indisputably a Welshman.  “Tân y Ddraig Goch” is a proud tribute to the Magnificent beast on our flag – the Red Dragon.  I like to think that each time I light up my gear, I’m bringing a little of that Welsh Fire to wherever I am, and it suppresses the “hiraeth” for just a little longer.

Read here for a little bit more background to the habit (and to me !).
